Who can volunteer with IHA?

You can apply if you're passionate about our cause, motivated to work in a challenging environment and...
1) are at least 20 years old
2) are able to come to Greece for at least 6 weeks (longer stays might be required for specific roles)
3) are physically and mentally healthy
4) agree with our Code of Conduct
5) can provide a background check / criminal record certificate (or equivalent)

When should I apply?

You can apply at any time. However, please understand that we’re able to fully confirm only 6 to 12 weeks prior to arrival. You can apply on short notice but chances are better if you apply early.

Where will I live?

We have a volunteer flat outside of Thessaloniki that provides communal accommodation for around 10 people. It has five bedrooms, two living room, three bathrooms, two small kitchen and a balcony. The flat is easily accessible from the city centre with public transport.

Can I bring donations?

Bringing donations on a flight is usually not efficient unless it’s very specific and urgently needed items. You can check with our team manager a few weeks prior to arrival if there’s anything you could bring.

Monetary donations are extremely valuable as they can be spent flexibly. Fundraising with friends and family is a great idea and big help to keep our projects running. You can create a personal fundraiser here or on our facebook page. We’d be happy to assist you: info@iha.help

What is the application procedure?

Please check the top of the page for current openings. If you are interested in one of the advertised positions, complete the application form above. We’ll get in touch with you via email. If we have a spot on the team and believe you might be a good fit, we’ll send you more information and arrange an interview.

What role can I apply for?

We're recruiting for specific volunteer profiles based on our current project needs. You can find a full list here, but please note that applications are only open for vacant positions advertised on the top of the page.

If there are no current openings matching your skills and interests, please check back at a later time or follow our social media channels to receive alters about volunteer calls. For other opportunities, we’d recommend applying with Indigo Volunteers, who can help you find a suitable placement with a similar project.

What do I have to pay for?

1) Your travels to and from Greece.
2) Food and personal expenses. Our team usually organises communal grocery shopping and cooks together to keep expenses as low as possible.
3) We're providing accommodation and use of our team cars for transport on the ground. To help cover those costs, we're asking for a contribution towards expenses of 150€ per month of your stay.
